2005 University of Toronto Portuguese Association (UTPA)Scholarship
The UTPA has announced the details of its annual scholarship program. As in past years, the UTPA will again award scholarships to a variety of deserving youth of Portuugese descent in an effort to encourage post-secondary education in the Luso-Canadian community. The UTPA is excited to announce that, in addition to being open to high school students planning on attending the UofT next year, it has, for the first time, extended its Scholarship Program to youth already studying at the post-secondary level.
The Scholarships are open to students of Portuguese-descent currently enrolled in full-time studies (highschool, college, university, and trade schools) who plan on studying at the University of Toronto in the 2005-06 school year. While the Scholarship Program will continue to focus on incoming highschool students (in an effort to increase representation of Portuguese-Canadians at UofT), we have reserved a minimum of one of our scholarships for deserving post-secondary students -- and, of course, those currently studying at the University of Toronto are also eligible, so long as they plan on staying on at UofT next year! We believe that encouraging post-secondary education doesn't stop when you've gotten in - we want to help you go all the way!
Please note that the scholarships are also open to those who are descendant from Portuguese-speaking regions, including the Azores, Brazil, Angola, Mozambique, Goa, Macau, etc.
The deadline for receipt of completed application packages is May 2, 2005. Click here for an application.
